The exotic hardwood series cues are constructed from rare exotic hardwoods form all over the world. A hardwood forearm will typically produce a forward weighted balanced cue in contrast to a butt heavy cue. In addition I will always core out the forearms with a 11/16" maple dowel. I am of the opinion that this will produce a far superior playing cue. By coring out the front you relieve some of the weight associated with heavier denser hardwoods, which can produce that pinging, hard hit.
